History
This beautiful and rare Roadster Sprint Car was built by famous race car builder, Grant King. It was purchased by Rod and Betty Atchison for their good friend, "George "Ziggy" Snider to campaign in the United States Auto Club, USAC, national circuit and certain "Open Competition" races.
Purpose built for pavement tracks, the car was so successful nationally, from 1978 thru 1981, having set numerous track records and winning many main events, that this roadster design was outlawed by USAC. It is currently on display with the 427 cubic inch engine as it raced in "Open Competition" trim.
Several of the Fresno area "Racing Legends" were involved in the restoration of the car and the building of the engine. They include Don Raiskup and Arnold Cavalli on the chassis and running gear while the horsepower was provided by famous engine builders, Tom Reitz and Bob Andrews.
